Looking To Buy A New House…
Avoid Features That Make It Nearly Impossible To Decorate
One of the joys of being ready to buy a new house is finally being able to decorate it to your own taste and style once you’ve moved in. You’re free from landlords’ restrictions limiting the number of wall hooks you can install to hang artwork from, or the paint palettes you can get creative with to add color to those drab walls.

When buying a house, look for “good bones” to make your task of interior decorating easier. You can always update and renovate if you find the house of your dreams has some less-than-perfect design features , but whenever possible, steer clear of the decorating challenges listed below:
Unnecessary Doorways. A house layout should be efficient. Excess of any form creates clutter and confusion. Having walls or open space may be more sensible than having several doorways. Consider carefully what you and your family needs.
Windows That Touch the Ceiling. Tall windows are nice, but when there is no drywall to fix drapery hardware against, window treatments become impossible. There should be at least 8 inches of drywall space above the window, as well as to either side of it.
Remember, there are very few homes out there that are absolutely perfect. You will need to make a decision about what you can or cannot live without.
Here are a few more features to avoid:
Archways in Doorways
Brick Fireplaces
Natural Oak Flooring
Natural Oak Hardwood Floors
Natural Oak Stair Spindles
Open Foyers
