Buying Wholesale Home Decor

Buying wholesale home decor, whether through traditional retail outlets or on the internet, is a great way to stretch your home decorating dollars. And thanks to the accessibility offered by storefronts on the Internet, it is now easier than ever to do.

Here are some things to keep in mind when considering buying wholesale home decor:

Most wholesalers will only sell to business owners and may ask for a business permit or business tax number as a condition of sale. They may also require either a minimum quantity or minimum purchase amount. For example, you may have to buy a minimum of 6 assorted syles of collectible home decor items, decorative birdcages for instance, which would only work out for you if you happen to be a collector of these items or if you are an interior designer selling goods and services to your clients. If you are buying a large piece, however, say an antique armoire, you may more easily meet the minimum purchase.

Another way to make buying wholesale home decor work for you is to participate in a group that buys collectively, a co-op group.

Yet another way to buy at the wholesale level is to look for wholesalers who are clearing out ends-of-lines. These companies may clear out last year’s lines at an annual sale, and may not mind selling at lower than usual retail prices to make room for new merchandise. This, by the way, is an excellent way to buy top of the line kitchen cabinets at reasonable prices.

Some distributors have both a wholesale and retail section in their warehouses, and you may be able to negotiate buying wholesale home decor items at wholesale prices from the retail section, especially if you bring a group of your friends who can shop with you and provide you with bargaining leverage.

Another great source for cheap home decor is EBay. Here again, know where your price limits are, as it is easy to get carried away with the excitement generated by the bidding process, and you may find that that marble statue you just successfully bid on may have cost you three times what it should have!

The fun is in tracking down and successfully bidding on that special home decor item you have been hunting for and finding the perfect spot for it in your decorating scheme.
