Archways in doorways can be used for maximum visual effect even though they are not really considered to be fashion-forward any longer.
Consider this idea:
Use the sloping curves of archways as the upper section of a “frame” that highlights the view beyond. If the archway in your doorway is painted white or off-white, for instance, consider using a teal-blue backdrop for the wall of the room beyond the archway. The archway then becomes an intersting frame that teases the viewer to move towards the glorious room waiting at the other end.
This is just one way to make the archway “disappear”, or in fact use it like an asset to contrast with other areas in the space.
